Frequent paper jams are a widespread headache in workplace printing environments — they can bring operations to a standstill, waste time, and sometimes even damage the machine if not handled correctly. The good news is that most paper jams can be resolved quickly with a few simple steps. The key is staying calm and following a systematic approach.

Start with switching off the device. This eliminates risk from active components while you're clearing the jam, which could cause further damage or accidental trauma. Disconnect the power cord if you're questioning the risk or if the jam is deep inside the machine.

Expose all paper paths and trays. Start with the paper tray. Remove any paper that is stuck or misaligned. Sometimes the issue is caused by incorrect paper placement. Verify the stack is level, free of excess volume, and that the alignment guides are pressed firmly.

Examine the paper path. Gently pull out any visible paper. Always pull in the direction the paper normally travels — usually toward the exit or output tray.
